meet the people who come here
Here's some information about a few of the people who come to SWARA and what they do when they're here.

Sally
Sally enjoys various activities at SWARA including bocce, band practice, drama, and poetry. She is also a bakery linchpin and would like to get more involved in growing vegetables in the SWARA gardens.

Peter
Peter gets involved in lots of things at SWARA. He likes helping in the kitchen, doing arts and crafts, and going on the computer where he enjoys researching information on old cartoons and movies. He likes the drumming workshop that Access Arts runs on Fridays, and he especially enjoys spending time with Jenny and all his other friends at SWARA.

Mary
Mary participates in a broad range of activities at SWARA. She enjoys kitchen training, going on the computer, the poetry group, music and drama, and the museum talks. Mary's been coming to SWARA for a long time and enjoys seeing all her friends when she's here.

Adrian
Adrian likes coming to SWARA to help out around the centre and have a laugh with his mates. He runs the footy and cricket tipping competitions and the twice weekly bocce sessions in the gardens. He's also keenly involved in cookery and computer sessions and is a massive fan of the Canberra Raiders.

David
David's been coming to SWARA for years and likes helping out especially when it involves feeding the mob. He gets on well with all the people who come here and says ‘if you can't help your friends who do you help?' He's a big supporter of the Brisbane Lions.

Nancy
Nancy especially likes drama activity at SWARA and is involved in the practical drama workshop run by students from Griffith University and the rehearsals for the musical ‘Grease’ run by Rob Eastcott. Nancy also enjoys the talks by other organisatons that SWARA hosts and is an active participant in the natural world talks that are revolved around exhibits loaned from the Queensland Museum.

David
Davey spends most of his time at SWARA in the metal workshop where he recycles copper wire. He likes coming to SWARA to see his friends, especially Michael who he sits with in the workshop.

Norman
Norman likes the arts and crafts activity at SWARA, especially drawing, making decorations and card making. He also enjoys going on the bus trips with the most recent one being a visit to a farm at Mount Tamborine.

Karen with SWARA volunteer Geoff
Karen spends a lot of her time at SWARA with her friends in the metal workshop. She really enjoys the parties, outings and barbeques that SWARA holds. Karen also regularly helps out on shopping trips.

Paul
Paul is very keen on being involved in lots of things at SWARA. He often helps with the gardening and with recycling activity. Paul also enjoys working on the computers and is a budding potter and artist.

Kate is a very creative person and has an excellent singing voice. She played a central role in our Christmas concert and is taking part in our musical theatre project. She also enjoys knitting, crocheting and has been involved in the jewelry craft group run by her partner Jeff.
